Dosage Oxydolor 80 mg

Orally. The dosage depends on the intensity of pain and the patient’s individual sensitivity to treatment. Adults and youth from 12 years of age . The usual starting dose for opioid-naïve patients is 10 mg every 12 hours. Some patients may respond to an initial dose of 5 mg, which reduces the incidence of side effects. Patients already taking opioids may be initiated on higher doses given their prior experience with opioid treatment. A dose of 10-13 mg of oxycodone hydrochloride in the prolonged-release form corresponds to approximately 20 mg of morphine sulfate in the prolonged-release form.

Duration of treatment.

The medicine should not be used longer than necessary. If long-term therapy is necessary due to the type and severity of the disease, careful and regular monitoring is recommended to determine whether and to what extent treatment should be continued. If opioid therapy is no longer indicated, a gradual reduction of the daily dose is recommended to prevent withdrawal symptoms.
Special patient groups .
Elderly patients, unless they have evidence of hepatic and/or renal impairment, usually do not require dose adjustment. Particular caution should be exercised when initiating treatment in patients with renal or hepatic impairment. The recommended starting dose should be 50% of the adult dose (e.g. total daily dose of 10 mg in opioid-naïve patients). Dose adjustments should be made according to the individual clinical condition of the patient.

Side effects Oxydolor 80mg

Like any drug, Oxydolor may cause side effects. The most frequently observed symptoms include headache, dizziness, drowsiness, vomiting, constipation, nausea, and itching. In addition, cases of appetite-related disorders have also been observed, ranging from decreased appetite, even to anorexia, and behavioral disorders such as confusion, anxiety, depression, nervousness, and impaired thinking.

Some patients also complained of tremors, shortness of breath, dry mouth, lower blood pressure, weakness or increased sweating. Hypersensitivity, agitation, emotional instability, decreased libido , hallucinations, memory problems, increased muscle tension and syndrome of inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone also occurred much less frequently. The use of large doses of opioid-based drugs, especially over a long period of time, may be associated with the risk of addiction.
